The rains in October were not as abundant as in the last two years and the Marselan for the Oenothera d’Automne, has withstood them better. It has a potential of about 20°, the aromas are seductive and it is time to pick it. It will bring this year’s harvest to a close, which, given the diversity of grape varieties we have and the high quality we aim for, has had on us tenterhooks for 63 days!!
On the evening of 29 August 2006, our intention was to present this very important episode in the life of the vineyard to you in the form of a daily bulletin and to post a report every evening on the day's harvesting. But with 12 to 14 hours spent in the cellar, problems with equipment that had to be sorted out urgently or concerns about the fickle weather conditions, we were unable to achieve it.
We ask our loyal readers to forgive us and we hope that this “Harvest Diary 2006" will nevertheless enable you to discover or gain a better understanding of what our job entails and thereby share a little of this passion of ours.
